Norwich Canoe
Club youngsters returned from the National Sprint Championships at Nottingham
with a massive haul of medals. The competitors had to compete over distances of
500 and 1000 metres in testing wet and windy conditions.
Outstanding
performances include that of Ryan Ellis who although only an Under 10, competed
in the Under 12 class in both K2 and K4 (doubles and quads) with club mate Joe
Rix to win 3 bronze medals.
Albert Hicks
who was in the driving seat of the boys Under 14 K4 scorched to victory in the
500m and 1000m events in times that would have gained medals in the next age
group up classes. Albert also came home with 2 silver medals from his K2 events.
Younger sister, Harriet Hicks had individual success winning a bronze medal in
the 500m event and then teamed up with club mate Lucy Lee-Smith to win 2 further
medals in the K4 events.
William
Linnell completed the haul of 17 medals with his 2 bronze from the Under 16 K4
500m and 1000m events.
