Press Release - Cambridge Marathon 2009
Cambridge Bumps

Norwich Canoe Club paddled their way to a terrific victory on
the bumpy waters of the River Cam on Sunday, typified by a superb win for Joe Rix and Lucy Lee-Smith in the Division 9 K2. They are both still under 12, but defeated a field littered with older paddlers. Stacey Terry blew away the opposition in her K1 race to come first in Division 8, and Robert Kilbourn and Fiona Hunter successfully wove their way through an
extraordinary number of holiday-maker punts, none of which were more than vaguely under control to win the Division 4 K2 race.

Special mention should also go to George Mace and Amelia Rix who came second and third respectively in the Division 9 K1.
The rest of the twenty-three strong team finished well up the field in this Eastern Region Hasler Competition of over a hundred and twenty paddlers to give Norwich the outright victory. With two races left before the national club finals, Norwich C.C. are looking ominously strong.
